Currently, I am attending school at Nizhoni School of Midwifery in San Diego, Ca. I work as a student midwife and birth assistant with Susan Scott Gill and Lindsey Meehleis; both midwives in Orange County, Ca. I enjoy relaxing at the beach in the sun, having a meal with friends, shopping for a good bargain, watching a romantic movie, reading a good book and I love going to church and worshiping the Lord. My heart is to serve the Lord and my passion is for Africa. My ministry is to care for women and babies during birth. I will be helping to open a birth center in Uganda in 2011. One of my life-long dreams has been to become a midwife. My passion for pregnancy and childbirth started as a child. I have had the privilege of attending all 4 of my grandchildren’s births. I also had the opportunity to “catch” my son who is genetically mine and my husbands, but carried by my sister-in law (his gestational mother.) Zack is now 21years old and in his 3rd year of college. I began my journey as a Doula in 2004 and then trained as a birth assistant shortly after. I have done an 8 month apprenticeship with Michelle Freund in Oceanside, Ca. and am currently enrolled in midwifery school. I also have the incredible opportunity to serve in Uganda once or twice a year. I believe that each new life is a gift from God. I believe that birth is a right of passage for all women. I believe that every woman should be well educated about all aspects of pregnancy and childbirth and informed of available options so that she and her partner can make wise decisions as to how they would like their birth to unfold. I believe that each couple should have loving emotional and physical support during their birth. Sherill Sedillo
